A two-piece L-shaped workstation: a bookshelf tabletop and a desk tabletop, matched in height and joined only at a shared felt-padded corner, so the desk portion can pivot away from the bookshelf.

Attach the 2x4 end pieces to the bookshelf tabletop, then the 2x4 side trim, joining the corners with predrilled 1-1/2" pocket holes.

Attach the legs to the 2x4 frame. Set the plywood side and center panels inside the frame and attach with pocket hole screws, keeping the center panel perfectly centered and the pocket holes positioned to be hidden under the shelves.

Attach the 1x3 bottom trim, then set the shelves in and attach.

Trim the shelves with 1x2 pieces, attached with glue and 1-1/4" brad nails. This completes the bookshelf.

Repeat the tabletop frame and panel steps to build the desk tabletop, measuring the assembled bookshelf's overall height first and cutting the desk legs to match.

Attach the outer plywood panel flush to the outside of the desk leg, then nail 1x2 cleats on the inside. Attach the remaining plywood panel to the inside of the desk leg with 1-1/4" brad nails and glue.

Sand all surfaces and apply primer and paint, or stain and poly. Attach felt pads to the bottom of the bookshelf, desk feet, and the underside of the desk where it meets the bookshelf, then position the desk against the bookshelf corner.
