This is a matched two-piece system rather than one fixed L-shaped desk — a long bookshelf unit and a separate desk unit, both built the exact same height and only meeting at one shared corner cushioned with felt pads. Height matching between the two pieces is the single hard requirement of this whole build — measure the bookshelf's overall height once it's assembled and cut the desk legs to match exactly, rather than trusting the plan's stated numbers, since real plywood thickness and assembly tolerances shift the final height slightly.
Both tabletops share the same construction method: 2x4s ripped down to 3" wide form the perimeter frame, with 3/4" plywood panels set inside and attached with pocket holes carefully placed so they land hidden under the shelves once everything is assembled. The center plywood panel on the bookshelf needs to be perfectly centered on the tabletop frame — this is what keeps the finished shelving symmetrical rather than visibly off to one side.
Build the bookshelf tabletop completely first — legs, panels, bottom trim, shelves, and shelf trim — before repeating the same steps for the desk tabletop. The desk's own inside leg gets plywood panels on both faces, flush to the outside and cleated on the inside, which is what lets the desk pivot against the bookshelf corner on felt pads rather than being screwed rigidly to it — an ADA-minded detail that keeps the whole workstation reconfigurable rather than fixed in one L shape permanently.

Some parts are longer than a 8 ft board, so there is no honest board count to show here. Open the board plan to pick a longer stock length — it names every part that does not fit.

Attach the 2x4 end pieces to the bookshelf tabletop, then the 2x4 side trim, joining the corners with predrilled 1-1/2" pocket holes.
Attach the legs to the 2x4 frame. Set the plywood side and center panels inside the frame and attach with pocket hole screws, keeping the center panel perfectly centered and the pocket holes positioned to be hidden under the shelves.
Attach the 1x3 bottom trim, then set the shelves in and attach.
Trim the shelves with 1x2 pieces, attached with glue and 1-1/4" brad nails. This completes the bookshelf.
Repeat the tabletop frame and panel steps to build the desk tabletop, measuring the assembled bookshelf's overall height first and cutting the desk legs to match.
Attach the outer plywood panel flush to the outside of the desk leg, then nail 1x2 cleats on the inside. Attach the remaining plywood panel to the inside of the desk leg with 1-1/4" brad nails and glue.
Sand all surfaces and apply primer and paint, or stain and poly. Attach felt pads to the bottom of the bookshelf, desk feet, and the underside of the desk where it meets the bookshelf, then position the desk against the bookshelf corner.
