Wooden Gear Wall Clock

A wall clock shaped like a mechanical gear, cut from a single board with a scroll saw and finished with a standard quartz movement.

1. Transfer the gear template
Materials: Board, at least 1/4" thick, cut to 12in
Print a gear template and tape or spray-adhesive it onto the board.
2. Cut the gear shape
Tools: Jigsaw. Materials: Board, at least 1/4" thick, cut to 12in
Cut out the gear silhouette with a jigsaw, following the template closely around each tooth.
3. Drill the center hole
Tools: Drill / Driver, Forstner Bits. Materials: Board, at least 1/4" thick, cut to 12in
Find the center of the blank and drill a hole sized to the clock mechanism's shaft with a forstner bit.
4. Sand and finish
Tools: Random Orbit Sander. Materials: Paint or stain
Sand the cut edges and both faces smooth, then paint or stain as desired.
5. Install the mechanism
Materials: Clock mechanism (quartz movement)
Install the clock mechanism through the center hole and set the hands.
