Materials: Vertical shelf track standards
If you want the wall tracks to match your walls, spray paint them and let dry before installing, or purchase white tracks for white walls.
Tools: Drill / Driver. Materials: Vertical shelf track standards, Horizontal hang track (optional)
Secure the vertical track standards to the wall either directly into studs (every other stud for light loads, every stud for heavy loads) or via a horizontal hang track installed across the top. Keep the tops of all standards level at your desired top shelf height.
Materials: Shelf brackets, 11–12 in long
Clip the shelf brackets into the vertical tracks wherever you want a shelf.
Tools: Brad Nailer, Circular Saw. Materials: 1x12, 3 ft (per shelf, representative 36 in length), 1x4, 3 ft (per shelf, representative 36 in length), Brad nails, 1-1/4", or pocket hole screws
Cut a 1x12 to your desired shelf length. Nail and glue a 1x4 to the front edge with 1-1/4" brad nails, or use hidden pocket holes for a more polished look.
Tools: Drill / Driver, Random Orbit Sander. Materials: Short wood screws, for securing shelves to brackets, Primer and paint, or stain and poly
Paint or stain the shelves as desired, then secure to the brackets with short screws sized to your bracket hardware, driving about 1/2" into the wood.
