Mark the dowel locations on the 30" frame boards. Drill a pilot hole all the way through at each mark, sized to match your screw shaft.

Tape the 7/8" spade bit 3/4" up from the tip. Drill over each pilot hole to a 3/4" depth to create the dowel sockets.

Apply glue inside each hole and insert a dowel. Secure from the bottom with a screw through the pilot hole. Keep the longer dowels on the back row board and shorter dowels on the front row board.

Attach the two rows of dowels together with the remaining 2x3 end pieces to complete the frame.
