Drill two 1-1/2" pocket holes on each end of all the shorter 2x4 end pieces and attach to the front legs, then to the back legs, with 2-1/2" pocket hole screws.

Drill two 1-1/2" pocket holes on each end of the 2x4 tie-ins and attach to the legs. Drill one 1-1/2" pocket hole on each end of the 2x2 tie-ins and attach the same way.

Scribe and cut the X pieces directly against the assembled bays, following a reference video for the technique. Attach the smaller X pieces to the larger diagonal piece with single pocket holes, then attach the completed X assembly to the outside of the legs with 2-1/2" screws.

Join the two 2x8 seat boards edge to edge with 1-1/2" pocket holes and 2-1/2" pocket hole screws. Attach the whole seat from underneath with 2-1/2" screws, four should be plenty.

Attach the 2x2 end trim to the seat with 2" brad nails or 2-1/2" self-tapping screws.

Attach the plywood back with 3/4" brad nails and wood glue. Attach the header with 2-1/2" self-tapping screws.

Space and attach four coat hooks along the header to match your actual coats and bags rather than spacing them purely evenly. Sand and finish the whole piece.
