1. Build the outer box
Tools: Drill / Driver, Pocket Hole Jig. Materials: Pine, 1x12, 8 ft, Wood glue
Assemble the top, sides, and bottom into a box. Pocket holes work well, but plain screws or even nails work too since the whole thing is face-framed afterward — whatever method you use, predrill every hole and don't skip the glue.
2. Add the dividers
Tools: Drill / Driver, Tape Measure. Materials: Pine, 1x12, 8 ft
Add the three dividers, measuring each gap independently to keep them all exactly 11" apart — don't assume the second gap is correct just because the first one matches.
3. Add or plan the shelves
Tools: Drill / Driver. Materials: Pine, 1x12, 8 ft, Shelf pins
Either install the shelves permanently now, or drill shelf-pin holes in the sides and dividers to add adjustable shelves later.
4. Build and attach the face frame
Tools: Brad Nailer, Pocket Hole Jig. Materials: Pine, 1x2, 8 ft, Wood glue
If using pocket holes, build the entire face frame as one unit first, then attach it to the case with 1-1/4" nails and glue. If attaching board by board instead, start with the top board, gluing and nailing it on — including into the dividers, not just the sides.
5. Finish the face frame
Tools: Brad Nailer. Materials: Pine, 1x2, 8 ft
Cut and fit the bottom face frame board and nail it on, again nailing into the dividers as well as the sides.
6. Add the casters
Tools: Drill / Driver. Materials: 4 caster wheels with mounting screws
