A big media hutch from the board-and-batten collection: a wide, open console on 2x2 legs with a lower controller shelf and a couple of small drawers, sized to hold a TV and its gear. It's a substantial piece, and it's designed to anchor to the wall — important for a large, top-heavy unit.
Build it like the rest of the collection: trim out the 1x12 sides top and bottom, add the 2x2 legs (pocket-hole screws or 2-1/2" finish nails and glue), then bring in the 2x2 front/back trim and the 1x12 shelves and top. The order of the trim-and-shelf steps is flexible — do what makes sense with the parts in front of you.
Two pieces earn their keep. The 1/4" back on the top section adds a lot of strength to a large open piece — don't skip it, and nail it into the fixed shelf. The controller shelf isn't just for looks: it adds a usable low surface for remotes and consoles, and it stiffens the whole unit. Leave the 1-1/2" gap behind it for cords. When you assemble everything, screw the pieces together and anchor the hutch to the wall behind it.

Start by trimming out the top and bottom of the 1x12 sides, cutting the trim to match your actual 1x12 width. A nailer is handy; 1-1/4" screws from the back work too.
Attach the 2x2 legs — these would be the legs of a bookshelf, so think of them that way. Use pocket-hole screws, or 2-1/2" finish nails and glue.
Attach the 2x2 front and back trim with pocket-hole screws (2-1/2") or trim screws and glue. You can do this before or after adding the top — do what makes sense with the parts in hand.
Attach the top to the sides and front/back trim with pocket-hole screws or trim screws and glue, and set the shelves.
Add the 1/4" back — strongly recommended on a piece this large, since the back adds a lot of strength. Nail it into the fixed shelf.
Build the controller shelf and screw it directly to the bottom of the hutch, leaving a 1-1/2" gap behind it for wires. It adds a usable low surface and stiffens the unit.
Build the small drawers from the 1x8 scraps with 1x12 fronts (adjust the front width to your actual 1x8s). Screw all the pieces together, and anchor the hutch to the wall behind it — safety first on a tall, wide piece. Sand and finish.
