1. Cut all pieces
Tools: Table Saw, Tape Measure. Materials: Pine or cedar, 2x4, 8 ft, Pine or cedar, 2x8, 4 ft, Pine or cedar, 2x6, 4 ft
Cut the tabletop, leg, and shelf pieces per the cut list, paying close attention to which angled pieces need parallel ends and which don't. Dry-fit one leg assembly before cutting the rest.
2. Attach the cleats to the tabletop
Tools: Drill / Driver. Materials: Pine or cedar, 2x4, 8 ft, Pine or cedar, 2x8, 4 ft, Self-tapping structural screws, 2-3/4", Wood glue
Lay out the tabletop boards and center the angled cleats across the underside, leaving a consistent 1in overhang at each end. Attach with screws and glue.
3. Build the leg assemblies
Tools: Combination Square, Pocket Hole Jig. Materials: Pine or cedar, 2x4, 8 ft, Pocket hole screws, 2-1/2"
Build two leg assemblies from the angled leg pieces, joining them with pocket holes to keep the fasteners hidden.
4. Attach the legs to the top
Tools: Drill / Driver. Materials: Pocket hole screws, 2-1/2"
Attach the leg assemblies to the underside of the tabletop cleats.
5. Add the bottom shelf
Tools: Drill / Driver. Materials: Pine or cedar, 2x6, 4 ft, Self-tapping structural screws, 2-3/4", Wood glue
Clamp the bottom shelf boards in place between the legs and fasten from underneath with screws and glue.
6. Sand and finish
Materials: Wood stain
Sand every surface, then finish with stain to match the rest of the Homestead Collection.
