1x3 and 1x4 Wood Box Tray

Glue the three 1x4 boards edge to edge and let them fully set — don't rush this, a bottom that hasn't cured springs apart when you nail into it. Once set, measure the combined width of the glued panel, cut the 1x3 end boards to match, and attach with 1-1/4" brad nails and glue.

Measure and cut the side pieces to fit and nail and glue them to the sides, forming the tray lip. Fill nail holes, sand, and stain — a couple of coats of a wipe-on finish protect it from wax and rings. Add handles if you want to carry it.
