Build the box sides and front/back into a square frame using 3/4" pocket holes and 1-1/4" pocket hole screws.
Tools: Brad Nailer, Staple Gun. Materials: 3/4" project panel, 18 in x 18 in (top and bottom), Staples, 5/8" and 1-1/4", Wood glue
Attach the bottom panel with nails or staples and wood glue.
Tools: Drill / Driver. Materials: Caster wheels, 2 in, two locking, Screws, 3/4", to fit casters if not supplied
Attach caster wheels to the bottom of the box, using at least two locking casters if the stool will double as a step stool.
Tools: Staple Gun. Materials: Foam, 2 in thick, 16 in x 16 in, Upholstery fabric, 24 in x 24 in minimum, batting recommended if thin, Industrial strength velcro, Staples, 5/8" and 1-1/4"
Wrap the foam and fabric around the 3/4" plywood top panel, stapling the fabric underneath. Attach the upholstered top panel to the box top with industrial strength velcro.
Tools: Random Orbit Sander
Sand any exposed wood surfaces before upholstering, and finish the box exterior as desired.
