This is the simplest version of a daybed frame in this catalog — no storage box, no drawers, no headboard, just a wall cleat and a handful of L-shaped legs carrying bare 2x4 slats. Build three legs for a 75"-wide daybed; if you need to span farther, add a leg roughly every 3 feet to keep the slats from sagging.
Attach the back cleat directly to wall studs with 2-1/2" wood screws first, then attach the legs to the cleat with pocket hole screws — this is a genuinely built-in piece, not a bed frame that happens to sit near a wall. At least one leg, and preferably both outer legs, must land on a wall stud — this is what keeps the whole daybed from racking side to side under someone sitting on the edge; a leg attached only to drywall anchors will not hold.
Attach the slats to the legs with 2-1/2" screws, and if you want a more finished look than bare slat ends, cover the exposed ends with plywood or wood planking — this is a cosmetic step, not a structural one.
