This table's base builds from stacked curved-edge boards rather than a simple straight-cut X or a pedestal, and its center stretcher uses two different compound angles rather than one repeated angle — a genuinely distinct X-brace geometry from the other X-based tables in this catalog. Build the tabletop first without its breadboard ends, using pocket holes, then run a circular saw down the end edges with a clamped board as a guide to true up all the boards to exactly the same length before the breadboard ends ever go on — trying to get eight individual 2x6 boards to a consistent length by measurement alone is far less reliable than trimming the assembled panel in one pass.
Once the first curved end board is cut correctly, use it as a pattern for the rest — the plan is explicit that this shape only needs to be gotten right once. Stack the curved boards in graduated rows onto the underside of the tabletop, hiding screws with countersinks where they'd otherwise show.
The center X is the base's real signature: two angle cuts, 50° and 20° off square, on legs that lean inward from both directions to cross in the middle — and the plan offers a genuine fallback if your saw doesn't cut a 50° miter: use two full-length 2x2s at a simple angle cut instead, overlapped and crossed, filling in gaps afterward if you want a fuller look. The stretcher underneath ties the two leg sets together and should be measured and cut to fit your actual leg spacing rather than to a fixed number, since 2x4 widths vary enough to shift that measurement slightly.

Build the tabletop without breadboard ends first, using 1-1/2" pocket holes and 2-1/2" pocket hole screws. Run a circular saw with a clamped guide board down the end edges to true up all boards to the same length. For a smoother top, consider tongue and groove boards.
Measure and cut the breadboard ends to fit the trued-up tabletop and attach.
Cut the pattern for the curved edge boards, getting one end right, then use it as a pattern for the rest. Attach the three longest curved boards to the underside of the tabletop, then stack the next row on top, countersinking screws where they'd otherwise show.
Add the second base row to the leg set, then attach the feet and foot trim.
Attach the leg sets to the underside of the tabletop. Measure and cut the stretcher to fit the actual leg spacing, then attach with pocket holes underneath.
Cut the X center support at 20° parallel ends, and the two X arms with a 50° cut on one end and a 20° cut on the other. If your saw can't cut 50°, substitute two full-length 2x2s overlapped at a simple angle cut instead. Attach the X assembly to the stretcher and leg sets.
Sand all surfaces and apply primer and paint, or stain and poly.
