This bed's structural signature is the L-shaped rail: a 2x4 laid flat on top of a 2x6 on edge, flush to the inside. The vertical 2x6 is the beam, the horizontal 2x4 is both the mattress ledge's support and a wide, clean top edge — and the footboard version of the same L overextends 2" past each end, a small reveal that reads as intentional design rather than lumber-yard economy.
Like its minimalist sibling elsewhere in this catalog, it builds as prefinished flat sections — headboard, two rails, footboard — and assembles in the room with 2-1/2" screws. The plan says 'prefinish' at the end of both build steps, and it means it: staining assembled beds around inside corners is a chore this design specifically deletes.
What this one adds over the flat-rail beds is the anti-rack system: 45°-cut cross braces at the bottom corners (and optionally at the headboard), plus 2x2 cleats and — full size up — a center 2x4 set flush with the cleat tops, with optional center legs under it. Beds rack at the corners; the diagonal braces close those corners into triangles. Ten minutes of work for a bed that never develops the dorm-bed wiggle.
The cut list here is QUEEN; twin/full/king/cal-king all publish, differing only in lengths and slat counts (notes carry the deltas). Slats run at ~4" gaps — the plan itself says check your mattress's requirements, and foam mattresses generally want tighter spacing than spring.

Lay the seven 1x6 planks on a flat surface, snug the edges, and attach the 2x2 top rail across the top with brads and glue. Add the vertical 2x2s — ends first, then evenly spaced — nailing through from the back so the face stays clean.
Sand and finish it now, flat. The headboard's face is the first thing seen in the room every day; give it the finish schedule it deserves while it's still bench work.
Screw each 2x4 cap flat on top of its 2x6 beam, flush to the INSIDE face — that's the L. The footboard's cap overextends 2" past the beam at each end; center it before screwing.
Prefinish these too. Sections that arrive in the bedroom finished make assembly a screwdriver evening instead of a project.
Screw the footboard to the side rails with the 2-1/2" screws, then the rails to the headboard, and set the frame in position. Check the frame's diagonals before the last screws — a racked frame telegraphs into the braces next step.
Screw the 45° cross braces into the bottom corners (and at the headboard too, if you want maximum stillness) — these triangles are what keep a platform bed from ever learning to wiggle. Run the 2x2 cleats along the rails, and for full size up, add the center 2x4 flush with the cleat tops, with optional center legs under it.
Lay the slats at even (~4") gaps and screw each down. Check your mattress maker's slat spec — foam mattresses want closer spacing. Mattress on; the lumber yard would like to know how it became furniture this fast.
