Tools: Drill / Driver. Materials: Plywood, 3/4 in, 4x8 sheet, Bun feet, Foot mounting brackets
Attach the mounting brackets and bun feet to the underside of the bottom panel (A). Check that your feet tuck completely under the unit — nothing should stick out past the sides, front, or back.
Tools: Drill / Driver, Drill Bit Set. Materials: Plywood, 3/4 in, 4x8 sheet
On all the divider pieces (C), mark hole lines 3" from the front and back and 8" down from the top. Drill with a bit matching your shelf pins, using a lock collar or tape 1/2" from the tip as a depth stop — do NOT drill through the panel. Keep track of orientation so the holes land on the inside faces of the end sections.
Tools: Drill / Driver, Pocket Hole Jig, Speed Square. Materials: Plywood, 3/4 in, 4x8 sheet, Pocket-hole screws, 1-1/4 in, Wood screws, 2 in, Wood glue
Attach a divider (C) at each end of the bottom (A) with glue and 1-1/4" pocket screws or 2" screws (predrill from the bottom if using plain screws). Attach the two inner dividers so the bays measure 15", 27", and 15" inside to inside.
Tools: Drill / Driver. Materials: Plywood, 3/4 in, 4x8 sheet, Pocket-hole screws, 1-1/4 in, Wood glue
Attach the fixed center shelf (D) 12" up from the bottom of the center section. This divides the wide center bay and stiffens the case.
Tools: Drill / Driver, Pocket Hole Jig. Materials: 1x2 pine, 8 ft, Pocket-hole screws, 1-1/4 in, Wood glue
Build the face frame — assemble it separately or attach directly to the console. Attach the two stiles (F) at each end across the front, then the rails (G) between them, keeping everything flush.
Tools: Brad Nailer, Drill / Driver, Pocket Hole Jig. Materials: Plywood, 3/4 in, 4x8 sheet, 1x2 pine, 8 ft, Pocket-hole screws, 1-1/4 in, Finish nails, 1-1/4 in, Wood glue
Add the inside stiles (H) with 1-1/4" pocket screws, or 1-1/4" finish nails if attaching directly to the front. Then attach the top (B) with glue and 1-1/4" pocket screws.
Tools: Drill / Driver, Pocket Hole Jig, Random Orbit Sander. Materials: Plywood, 1/4 in, 4x8 sheet, 1x2 pine, 8 ft, Cabinet hinges, Furniture pulls or knobs, Glass or lexan panels, 12-3/4 in x 21 in, Mirror clips, Pocket-hole screws, 1-1/4 in, Decorative and rope molding, Wood glue, Finish or paint
Build the door frames from stiles (I) and rails (J) with pocket screws. For solid doors, attach a 1/4" ply back (L) once the frame is square, with glue and 1-1/4" pocket screws. For the center glass doors, build the frame the same way and attach four mirror clips per door to hold the glass or lexan. Hang all four doors on the cabinet hinges with even gaps, then add pulls. Add optional decorative/rope molding and finish.
