Build the box as shown — sides, top, bottom, the middle divider that splits freezer from fridge, and the interior shelf. Use finish nails and glue at every joint. Keep it square.

Add the 1/4" plywood back, nailing into the interior shelves as well as the sides for rigidity. Shorter 1-1/4" nails are fine on the back.

Hang the two doors on euro-style inset concealed hinges — cheap, easy to mount, and they let the doors sit flush. Add the magnetic clasps to keep them shut and the handles. Trim the door boards first if they don't fit your openings. Round every edge, then finish with a durable child-safe finish.
