Simple Play Kitchen Narrow Fridge

This is the fridge that completes a play kitchen — a tall narrow box with two doors, a small freezer up top over a taller fridge below, sized to sit beside a play stove and sink. It's just a plywood-free box of 1x12 boards, which keeps it solid and paintable, and it holds up to years of small-child abuse.

The build is honest and quick: nail and glue the box (the source builder used a pneumatic nailer and glue and reports it's still going strong years later), add the back nailing into the internal shelves for rigidity, then hang the two doors. The doors are the only place to fuss — euro-style inset hinges are concealed, cheap, and easy to mount, and they let the doors sit flush and swing cleanly. Magnetic clasps keep them shut so the play food stays put.

Because it's a toy, round over the door edges and corners, and use a durable, child-safe finish. The door boards may need trimming to fit your actual openings — measure before final cut.
