Cut a scrap 1x3 to 4" and use it as a spacer block. Nail the nine dividers to the bottom board, spaced 4" apart with the block. If your nailer struggles (a battery nailer that needs a hard push can be awkward here), mark the holes, predrill, and attach with screws instead. Don't forget glue.
Keeping the 4" spacing at the top with your block, attach the back boards to the dividers and bottom with 2" finish nails and glue. As you near the top, switch to 1-1/4" nails — the 45° miter doesn't leave enough material for a 2" nail to clear.
Nail the front boards on, again using the 4" block as a guide so every bay stays even. Sand smooth, finish or paint, and add numbers (paint, vinyl, or tags). Mount to the wall studs, level.
