Modern 2x2 Desk Base

Build two leg frames with your pocket-hole jig set to the 1-1/2" setting. Place the pocket holes on the outsides of each frame — this makes a stronger joint, and it's hidden by the floor and desktop once everything is assembled. Use glue and 2-1/2" pocket-hole screws.

Attach the two longer 2x2s at the back to join the leg frames, again placing pocket holes on the top and on the underside of the footrest. Use glue and 2-1/2" pocket-hole screws.

Place your desktop on top of the base and attach it from the inside with 2" wood screws.
