This is a porch swing scaled up to couch proportions, and the extra width is exactly why it carries extra bracing a smaller swing doesn't need: a full 69" seat frame gets TWO center supports (not one), because an unsupported span that wide will develop a visible sag under real weight even in construction-grade 2x4. Build the seat frame with its center supports before anything else — everything above it, arms and back, is trim by comparison.
The back and arm-rest supports attach with their outside edges flush to the frame and three screws per joint — one more screw than a typical butt joint gets on this build, because this is the connection every sitting and leaning load routes through. The arm caps land on top of both the front support and the back support in one continuous run, which ties the whole side structure together instead of leaving the arm as a separate piece balanced on top.
The hanging hardware is not a place to improvise, and the source is direct about it: this is a genuinely heavy swing, and two adults on it is easily 400+ lbs of live, swinging load. Hang from the SIDE APRONS of the seat frame — that's where the real weight concentrates — with hardware rated well past the swing's actual load, anchored into structural framing (a porch beam or ceiling joists), never into ceiling boards or ceiling material alone. A slight backward hang angle (5° or so) reads as a small detail but noticeably improves how comfortable the swing feels once someone's actually sitting in it.

Add both center supports to the seat frame with the longer screws, two per joint. This wide a seat needs both — skip one and the middle of the swing will develop a visible sag under real weight.
Attach the back-rest and arm-rest supports to the frame, all outside edges flush, three screws per joint using the longer screws — one more screw than a typical joint here, since this is the connection that carries every sitting and leaning load.
Attach each arm rest to the top of its front support and to the back support in one continuous run, two screws per joint with the longer screws — this ties the whole side structure together rather than leaving the arm as a separate cap.
