This scales a real wheelbarrow down to kid size and keeps every part that makes a wheelbarrow function: an angled bucket, splayed legs for stability when it's set down loaded, and a single bolted wheel up front that actually rolls. The bucket sides get mitered at 10° rather than cut square, which is what gives the bucket its flared, wider-at-the-top shape instead of reading as a plain box.
Build the frame first and get the leg angles right before you build the bucket — the bucket sits on top of and is screwed into the handle assembly, so the frame's geometry is what everything else references off of.

Assumes 8 ft stock, a 1/8" saw kerf, and buying each part at its own width. Change the board size or kerf on the full board plan →
Build the frame using the two handles and the long and short frame supports, joined with 1-1/4" self-tapping wood screws and glue, countersunk slightly below the surface so nothing catches on little hands.
Drill a hole through the front of the frame and the wheel, then bolt the wheel on with the connecting bolt and nut, leaving it free to spin. Add the legs to the back of the frame with more 1-1/4" screws and glue.
Assemble the mitered bucket sides and ends with 1-1/4" brad nails (or screws), then attach the 1/4" plywood base to the bottom with 3/4" brad nails and glue.
Attach the bucket to the frame with 1-1/4" screws driven into the handle 1x2s. Sand every edge and corner smooth — this is a toy that gets grabbed, dragged, and sat in.
