This clock separates the two hard parts of a clock build — the mechanism and the wall art — by buying the mechanism outright and putting all the design effort into the plaque behind it. A purchased round clock face means no drilling a precisely-sized center shaft hole or sourcing hands; the woodworking is entirely in the backdrop.
Each board gets its own stain shade before assembly, building a light-to-dark ombre gradient across the angled boards, similar in spirit to the ombre cutting board elsewhere in this catalog but built as flat wall art instead of a food-safe surface.
Mount the clock face snugly but removably — flush against the back, not glued — so the battery can still be swapped without prying the whole face off the plaque.

Cut boards to your desired angled shape — a miter saw or table saw both work — so they'll fan together into one plaque.
Sand all boards smooth before staining, since it's much easier to sand flat individual boards than a glued-up assembly.
Stain each board a different shade — light, medium, dark — to build an ombre gradient effect across the set.
Glue the boards together in ombre order, centering the arrangement by eye, and weight it with something heavy while the glue sets, about 30 minutes.
Center the purchased clock face on the assembled plaque and mark the screw location using the clock's back notch. Screw it on snugly, flush with the back, so it can still be removed for battery changes.
Attach a sawtooth hanger to the back of the plaque.
