Deep Console Table with Hutch

Drill 3/4" pocket holes facing upward on the aprons before attaching them to the legs — much easier to drill flat on the bench than after the base is assembled. Attach the aprons to the turned legs to form the basic table shape.

Attach the tabletop to the aprons using the predrilled 3/4" pocket holes and 1-1/4" pocket hole screws.

Add extra support boards underneath the tabletop beyond the apron alone — a deep top spanning this length benefits from it, especially once the hutch's weight sits on top.

Attach stretchers between the legs at the stretcher blocks, hiding the 3/4" pocket holes on the underside.

Attach the hutch's back boards to the dividers with 3/4" pocket holes and 1-1/4" pocket hole screws.

Attach the top to the hutch framing with nails and glue.

Attach the completed hutch to the tabletop from underneath with screws — this keeps the connection removable if the piece ever needs to work as a plain console table.

Sand every surface and finish.
