Cutting boards stored flat get buried under pots and pans, and stored loose on their edge they slide and scratch each other. This rack solves both problems by giving each board its own upright slot, mounted on the inside of a cabinet door where it uses space that's otherwise empty.
At roughly 14-1/2" wide and 8" tall, it's sized to fit inside a standard cabinet door without interfering with the door's swing or the shelves behind it — measure your own door before committing to these dimensions if your cabinets run smaller.
Every piece is cut from a single 1x4 board (a true 1/2" thick, not full 3/4" stock), which keeps the whole rack thin enough to disappear against the inside of the door.

Assumes 8 ft stock, a 1/8" saw kerf, and buying each part at its own width. Change the board size or kerf on the full board plan →
Cut all pieces to size per the cut list from the 1x4 board.
Glue and clamp two side pieces to the bottom piece, waiting about 30 minutes for the glue to set.
Glue the two back vertical pieces in place. Optionally notch the side pieces to fit the back verticals for extra gluing surface and strength.
Glue on the bottom front and top front pieces to complete the rack.
Stain and seal with polyurethane, then mount inside a cabinet door.
