Christmas Cookie Box or Serving Display

A shallow open box on four small feet, sized to serve cookies or display holiday treats — the kind of quick, giftable build you can knock out from furring strips and a plywood scrap. A back board holds a painted message or a cut-vinyl phrase, and the whole thing paints up in an evening.

The construction is honest and simple: a 1x3 frame around a 1/4" plywood bottom, with a taller 1x4 or 1x6 back board for lettering, and four little 2x2 feet. The only technique worth flagging is the feet — don't try to cut a 1-1/2" cube off the end of a short offcut with a power saw, because holding a tiny piece near a blade is how people lose fingers. Cut the little feet OFF the end of a longer piece (at least 16") so your hands stay well clear, then trim the block down.

Clamp the plywood to your bench and cut it with a circular saw for a clean, safe cut, glue and brad it into the center of the box, and paint. Add the feet with glue and a pocket screw at each corner for grip.
