Scrap Wood Catch-All Tray

A freehand-shaped catch-all tray glued up from scrap boards and cut entirely with a jigsaw.

1. Glue up the panel
Tools: Bar / Pipe Clamps. Materials: Scrap wood boards, max 3/4" thick, Wood glue
Glue up enough scrap boards, none thicker than 3/4in, to cover your desired tray footprint. Clamp until fully cured.
2. Trace your shape
Once the glue-up is dry, trace your chosen shape onto the panel — an oval, an animal silhouette, a monogram, or whatever suits the gift.
3. Cut the outline
Tools: Jigsaw
Cut the outline with a jigsaw, following the traced line closely.
4. Sand and finish
Tools: Random Orbit Sander
Sand the edges and faces smooth, then finish as desired.
