Tools: Jigsaw, Random Orbit Sander. Materials: Plywood, 1/2", 24" x 48"
Mark out the moon shape on the 1/2" plywood pieces using the pattern, making sure to draw the reference line 4" from center — this line is what keeps the moon shapes evenly placed on the base later. Cut out carefully with a jigsaw, and cut the sharp points of the moon shape off square to avoid sharp edges.
Clamp the two moon-shaped sides together and sand the outside edges smooth, working from a coarse grit down to medium, until both sides are identical.
