About as minimal a build as this catalog has: three lengths of 2x2 glued together side by side, topped with a small stem piece (or a real branch, if one's handy). There's no fastening required at all beyond glue, though a few brad nails add insurance while the glue cures if you're impatient to move it.
The only real decision is proportions — three 6" pieces make a shorter, squatter pumpkin, while three 4" pieces make a taller, narrower one. Both use the same three-block construction, just different piece lengths.

Assumes 8 ft stock, a 1/8" saw kerf, and buying each part at its own width. Change the board size or kerf on the full board plan →
Glue the three 2x2 pieces together side by side and let dry fully before handling. Hot glue is preferred since it sets fast and strong, but any wood glue works — just give it time to cure. A few 2" brad nails add extra hold if you have a nailer on hand.
Paint or stain the glued-up blocks and the stem piece, then attach the stem with glue or a brad nail.
