1Attach the back to the base

Materials

1x6, 4 ft (large tree, or cedar fence picket)
1x2, 14.5 in (large tree)
1x4, 2 ft (small tree)
1x2, 9.5 in (small tree)
Brad nails, 1-1/4"
Wood glue

Attach the vertical back piece to the base with brad nails and glue.

2Attach the bottom layer

1x6, 4 ft (large tree, or cedar fence picket)
1x4, 2 ft (small tree)
Brad nails, 1-1/4"
Wood glue

Line up the bottom (widest) tree layer on the center of the base. Attach with glue and 1-1/4" brad nails from both the front and the bottom. Extend the base off your workbench to lay the project flat while nailing.

3Add the remaining layers

1x4, 2 ft (small tree)
Brad nails, 1-1/4"
Wood glue

Apply glue between each subsequent layer and the back support, attaching each with 1-1/4" brad nails from behind.

4Finish

Random Orbit Sander

Materials

Primer and paint, or stain and poly

Sand all surfaces and apply primer and paint, or stain and poly.
