This is a tiny slatted crate, built the same way a full-size crate is (a 1x2 frame with slats on all four sides), sized specifically to hold a drilled plywood tray of coffee pods that slides in and out like a drawer. The tray isn't a built drawer box — it's a flat panel with holes bored into it at pod-sized spacing, which is what a hole saw is for here, and it simply rests on the crate's internal ledge and pulls straight out.
Size the hole spacing to your actual pods before drilling — pod diameters vary slightly between brands, and a hole cut too tight will crack the plywood around it when you try to seat a pod.

Assumes 8 ft stock, a 1/8" saw kerf, and buying each part at its own width. Change the board size or kerf on the full board plan →
Build two rectangular frames from the side, front, and back 1x2 pieces — these form the two tiers of the crate. Glue and nail every joint.
Attach the four legs to one of the frames to raise the crate up, then attach the second frame on top of the legs — you now have a two-tier open crate.
Drill a grid of holes sized to your actual coffee pods into one of the 1/4" plywood panels using the hole saw — this becomes the sliding tray. Attach the second row of crate sides above the first if your design uses one, so the tray has a ledge to rest on and slide along.
Attach the 1/2" plywood top to the upper crate frame, then sand every edge — this sits on a counter and gets handled daily.
