This is the same waterfall-miter technique as the catalog's larger console tables — 45° bevels on non-parallel ends so the top's line carries straight down the sides — shrunk to a 26"-tall end table built from a single wide project panel instead of narrower boards.
The source plan is upfront about the hard part: fitting all the mitered pieces onto one 12-foot project panel is genuinely tight, and it recommends a specific cutting order to make it work — cut one outside side panel first (with its one 45° bevel), then use that same bevel setting to cut the top, then flip the setup to cut the second side panel, and only then cut the remaining pieces from what's left. If you're newer to miters, buying two shorter panels (an 8-footer and a 6-footer) buys real margin for practice cuts and mistakes.
Make your practice cuts on scrap first and check them for square before touching the real panel — a bevel that's off by even half a degree is obvious once four of them have to meet at a corner.

Make practice bevel cuts on scrap first and check them for square, adjusting your saw as needed — this is the hardest part of the whole build. Following the source's recommended order, cut one outside side panel first, then use that same saw setting to cut the top, then flip the setup to cut the second side panel, and cut the remaining pieces from what's left of the panel.
Attach the 1x3 inside cleats to the inside faces of the side panels with glue and brad nails. Attach the top to the sides at the mitered corners — if you have a pocket-hole jig, pocket-holing the 1x3 trim to the top here helps pull the miter tight.
Measure your actual 1x3 width before cutting the bottom shelf's position — it needs to sit so the distance from the top of the shelf to the bottom of the sides matches your 1x3 width exactly.
Cut the inside side panels to fit the gap left for your 1x3 trim width, then attach with glue and brad nails.
Cut the front and back trim frames to fit, dry-fit everything before committing, then attach. Pocket-holing the miter corners together first makes them noticeably tighter. Nail and glue all the trim to the project with 1-1/4" brad nails.
