A folding table usually depends entirely on its hinges — when they wear out or rack sideways, the whole table gets wobbly. This one leans on its joinery instead: a half-lap wall bracket and a dowel-reinforced, notched leg assembly do the structural work, with hinges only handling the actual folding motion.
Folded flat, the whole assembly projects less than 4" from the wall — closer to a large picture frame than a piece of furniture — which is the entire point for a small kitchen, laundry room, or workshop that needs a work surface only some of the time.
Build and dry-fit the folding leg assembly before you mount anything to the wall. The notched joint that lets the legs fold flat has to swing cleanly through its full range on the bench; a binding joint is far easier to fix on sawhorses than after it's already anchored to studs.

Assumes 8 ft stock, a 1/8" saw kerf, and buying each part at its own width. Change the board size or kerf on the full board plan →
Cut the wall bracket rails and side supports, then join them with half-lap joints to form a rigid frame that will anchor to the wall.
Build the folding leg support assembly using dowel-reinforced butt joints and an angled notched joint that lets it fold flat. Dry-fit and swing it through its full range on the bench before moving on.
Mount the back frame to the wall with anchors and screws, into studs if at all possible given the load a tabletop puts on it.
Attach the folding top and leg assembly to the wall bracket with the piano hinge so it swings up to a level, supported position and folds flat against the wall when not needed.
Sand and finish the whole assembly with stain or paint.
