Slim Arm Side Table

Attach the two sides under the top (the top overhangs slightly at each end) and fit the shelf between the sides near the bottom. Pocket holes on the 3/4" setting with 1-1/4" screws are the strong, hidden choice; 2" screws or brads with glue also work if you'll fill the holes at finishing.

Glue every joint regardless of fastener — and square the assembly by diagonals before anything cures.

Fit the three 1x4 ribs inside — against the underside of the top and the inside faces of the sides — with glue and brads on EVERY face each rib touches. The ribs are the anti-rack structure; a rib tacked on one face is decoration.

Fill fastener holes, sand to 120, and stain or paint. Slide it against the sofa arm and put the remote on it before someone loses the remote again.
