This toy box skips a lid entirely — it's an open bin on wheels, built so cleanup means rolling it to the toys rather than carrying a box to them. The plywood bottom and four 2x2 legs go together first, one screw per leg from underneath, and every following step references flush and square off that base.
The end panels go on before the sides, and the plan is specific about checking square as you attach the topmost fence picket especially — that top board is the one most likely to visibly telegraph a slightly out-of-square leg. The remaining side pickets center with an even gap on either side rather than each having a fixed position, so minor width variation between boards doesn't accumulate into a lopsided gap by the last board.
If using cedar fence pickets, sand them well and wear a respirator or mask while doing it — cedar dust is a genuine respiratory irritant in a way pine dust generally isn't, and a box built for a kid's room is worth the extra minute of protection during the one dusty step.

Assumes 8 ft stock, a 1/8" saw kerf, and buying each part at its own width. Change the board size or kerf on the full board plan →
Attach the four legs to the plywood base with 2" wood screws and wood glue driven from the underside — one screw per leg is enough.
Attach the end cedar fence pickets to the legs with 1-1/2" screws, two per end of each picket, four screws total per picket. Keep the legs square with the pickets as you attach them, especially the top picket.
Repeat the same process for the side fence pickets.
Center the remaining fence pickets, keeping an even gap on both sides, and attach with 1-1/2" screws, two per end of each picket.
Attach the caster wheels to the base with the caster wheel screws. If using cedar, sand thoroughly and wear a respirator or mask while sanding — cedar dust is a real respiratory irritant.
