This is a whole outdoor sectional broken into one repeatable module: an armless seat you build as many times as you need, plus a corner piece to turn the run. That modularity is the point — start with two seats, add a corner and a third later, and it all bolts together into one couch.
The construction is deliberately blunt: 2x4s, two 2-1/2" exterior self-tapping screws per joint, and exterior glue. Self-tapping screws let you drive straight into 2x4s without pre-drilling and splitting, and 'exterior' matters at every level — the screws, the glue, and ideally a rot-resistant or well-sealed wood, because this lives in the weather.
The seat slats space evenly across the frame so rain drains and the cushions breathe. When you build the corner, pay attention to which side the seat apron board lands on, because the corner can face either direction depending on how your sectional wraps — decide the layout first, then build the corner to match. Size cushions after the frames are done; a 2x4 seat is close to standard outdoor cushion depth.

Assemble the seat frame from the long and short 2x4s, two 2-1/2" self-tapping screws per joint and exterior glue. Check it square — every later part references this frame.
Fasten the front and back legs to the frame from the inside, two screws per joint plus glue. The taller back legs form the backrest posts.
Screw the top rail across the back legs with 2-1/2" screws — this sets the backrest and stiffens the whole piece.
Place the two outer slats and the center slat first and screw them down, two screws per joint, then space the remaining slats evenly between them and fasten. Even gaps drain rain and let the cushions breathe.
Fasten the 2x2 trim to the seat slats and into the legs where you can reach, to finish off the end of the seat and cover the slat ends.
Build the corner piece, watching which side the seat apron lands on — the corner works on either hand depending on how your sectional wraps, so set your layout first. Attach the corner to a seat module's legs with 2-1/2" screws. Sand all edges, seal or let it silver, and size cushions to the finished frames.
