Step-by-step build — 7 steps. Also available as a print sheet.
Build the two end assemblies from the legs and end trim. Use 2" screws and glue, or attach the end trim from the insides with a pocket-hole jig if you have one.
Fasten the shelves to the end assemblies with 2" screws and glue, or pocket holes driven from the underside of the shelves. Keep the top edge of each shelf flush.
Trim out the sides of both shelves with 2" screws and glue, fastening into the legs from the outside for extra support — or use pocket holes.
Fasten the top edge trim around the top of the table with 1-1/4" nails and glue, mitering the corners at 45° for a clean edge. Cut each piece to fit as you go.
Attach the topper side trim to the topper base, and to the end trim installed in the previous step, using glue and 2" nails or screws.
Attach the partition pieces to the bottom of the topper and to the side/end trim, using glue.
From underneath the changing table, attach the topper with 1-1/4" screws only — skip the glue here if you want the option to remove the topper later and use the table as a plain shelf unit.
