This bench does two jobs from the front and back of the same carcass: sit on it from the front, and the back half is a shelved, divided storage cubby for the shoes that would otherwise pile up by the door. It's designed to be flanked by walls on both ends, which is why the structural pocket holes are placed on the OUTSIDE faces of the side panels — with a wall covering each end, those holes are never seen, so there's no reason to hide them with plugs or extra finishing work.
The carcass goes together in a specific, sensible order: legs (the two 1x12 side panels) to the top and bottom shelves first, since those are the joints carrying the sitting load; then the two dividers, simply nailed and glued in place since they only need to hold their own shelf weight, not a person; then the 1x3 bottom supports for extra stiffness across the long unsupported span; then the two internal shelves; and only at the very end, the thin plywood back panel, which closes the whole assembly and adds meaningful racking resistance for surprisingly little material cost.
At 72" long and only about 16-1/2" deep, this reads as a normal bench from the front — nothing advertises that the back half is doing double duty as shoe storage until someone actually looks behind it.

Attach the two side panels to the top and bottom shelves with 3/4" pocket holes and 1-1/4" pocket hole screws — these are the bench's main structural joints, so place the pocket holes on the OUTSIDE faces of the sides, since walls will cover both ends and there's no reason to hide them.
Nail and glue the two dividers in place with 1-1/4" nails — they only carry their own shelf's load, not a sitting load, so a simpler joint is fine here.
Add the two 1x3 supports along the bottom with nails and glue — this stiffens the long unsupported span of the bench bottom against sagging.
Add the two internal shelves between the dividers, using pocket holes on the underside for extra strength.
Nail the plywood back panel on with glue and 3/4" nails — this closes the assembly and adds real resistance to racking for very little material.
Sand the whole bench and finish before it goes against the wall.
