Cut the two vertical leg supports from 1x6, the base sides and top rail stock from 1x4, and the base cross pieces from 1x3, per the cut list.

Sand the edges of the leg supports now, before assembly — they're much easier to reach flat on a bench than once they're standing upright in the finished stand.

Round the exposed corners of the base side pieces with a jigsaw, then sand them smooth. This is purely a comfort and safety detail — sharp 90-degree corners at ankle height in a music room are how someone gets hurt.

Drill pocket holes in both ends of the two 1x3 cross pieces and screw them between the two base side pieces, gluing each joint as you go.

Check the base for square before the glue sets — everything above it is only as square as this base is.

Center the two vertical leg supports on the base, drill pilot holes, and drive in countersunk screws from underneath so no fastener heads show on top.

Mark and cut the neck support profile from the remaining 1x4 stock with a jigsaw, sand the cut edges smooth, and screw it between the tops of the two vertical leg supports.

Sand the whole stand a final time and finish as desired — or leave it bare if it's staying in a low-traffic room.
