Step-by-step build — 7 steps. Also available as a print sheet.
Attach the top to the two side panels using a pocket hole jig or countersunk screws.
Add the shelf and the divider to the case.
Attach the back support board across the back of the case.
Build the face frame pieces as their own flat assembly if using a pocket hole jig, then attach to the front of the box.
Attach the back panel to close up the case.
Cut a test miter in scrap moulding first, at whatever spring angle your crown rests at — this is cheap insurance against a wasted cut on the real material. Once the test corner closes cleanly, miter the front and side crown pieces and attach around the top of the cabinet.
Sand every surface and edge, then finish.
