Step-by-step build — 9 steps. Also available as a print sheet.
Use 1-1/4" nails and glue to fasten the 1x2 end legs to the end panels, keeping the side and top edges flush. Taper the legs with a jigsaw — just a slight taper is enough, and keep it consistent since the side legs will also be tapered.
Use 1-1/4" nails and glue to fasten the bottom panel trim in place, keeping the bottom edges flush.
Use glue and 2" nails to fasten the tapered side legs to the panel and the end legs, nailing all the way down the end leg.
Attach the tops of the ends with 2" nails and glue, keeping edges flush with the side legs.
Cut the outside and inside moulding trim to fit the end panels and attach with glue and nails.
Use the layout points given to draw the arched, scalloped shape and cut out with a jigsaw. Once one side is cut, use it as a template for the remaining three.
Drill pocket holes in the scalloped side panels and attach to the siderails. Then use 1-1/4" nails and glue to attach the cleats to the siderails.
Assemble the end panels with the siderails, then lay the slats on top of the siderails and screw down with 1-1/4" screws.
Measure and cut the siderail trim to fit, then glue and nail it to the siderails with 1-1/4" nails.
