Mark the inside corner at the top and the outside corner at the bottom of every leg — a 5° bevel is hard to judge once you're mid-build, and this mark keeps every leg oriented correctly.

With the inside corners facing in, attach an apron to two legs; repeat to build a second leg set. Use the 3/4" pocket-hole setting and 1-1/4" pocket-hole screws, with the holes drilled in the aprons.

Also drill a set of 3/4" pocket holes facing upward in these aprons now, for attaching the seat in a later step.

Drill 3/4" pocket holes on either end of the remaining apron pieces, also facing upward for attaching the seat later. Attach these to the two leg sets with 1-1/4" pocket-hole screws and glue, joining them into the full leg base.

Attach the seat back to the seat. If you're painting, pocket holes work well (3/4" setting, 1-1/4" pocket-hole screws). If you're staining, attach from the underside instead, with carefully placed and predrilled 2-1/2" screws, so the show faces stay clean.

Attach the seat to the leg base through the pocket holes drilled in the previous two steps.
