This is a simple shelf box turned into a grid of open cubbies by four full-height dividers, with the whole front trimmed in 1x3 for a finished look. Install the bottom row of dividers first, fixed in place, then the top row — you won't be able to screw the bottom of the top dividers into the middle shelf since there's no way to get a fastener in there once they're standing, so glue those joints and let them set. It looks like a gap in the process, but it isn't; it just needs drying time instead of a fastener.
Squaring up matters more here than on a single stand-alone piece, because the design is meant to be stacked or lined up in multiples — an out-of-square unit will show clearly once a second one sits next to or on top of it.

Build the outer box from the sides and shelves using 2" screws and glue, or pocket-hole screws.
Install the bottom row of dividers first, fastened solidly. Then install the top row of dividers — you won't be able to fasten the bottom of these into the middle shelf, since there's no access once they're standing. That's fine: glue those joints and let them set in place before moving on.
Use the trim boards to secure the bottom boards in place, nailing the trim to the shelf and sides as well. Add trim boards to the back too. Adjust for square before attaching any of this trim, especially if you're stacking or lining up multiple cubby units — an out-of-square unit will be obvious next to a second one.
