The X in each leg is built from short and long 2x2 pieces beveled at 45° on both ends, capped top and bottom with 1x2 trim — build one leg completely first and use it as your physical pattern for the remaining two, rather than trying to work from measurements alone for each one. Three legs support this bench, not two — an end leg at each side plus a center leg, which is what lets the design work at both the 63" and 96" lengths without the seat boards sagging.
Attach the 2x6 seat boards to the leg tops with pocket hole screws and glue, then add the decorative bottom stretcher centered between the legs — purely decorative on the shorter bench, but the plan suggests optional cross braces running from the center support out to each leg on the longer 96" version for extra rigidity. Only the top boards and the stretcher change length between the two sizes — every leg part is identical whichever length you build, which is why both complete cut lists are given here rather than one size with a scaling note.

Some parts are longer than a 8 ft board, so there is no honest board count to show here. Open the board plan to pick a longer stock length — it names every part that does not fit.

Build one X-braced leg completely first, from the short and long X pieces, leg cap trim, and center post. Use it as a pattern to build the other two.
Attach the stretcher trim to the legs with 1-1/4" pocket hole screws and wood glue.
Attach the seat boards to the tops of the legs.
Add a bottom decorative support centered between the legs. For the longer bench, consider adding cross braces from the center support to each leg for extra rigidity.
Sand all surfaces and apply primer and paint, or stain and poly.
