Fancy Closet Tower

Build the basic box with 3/4" pocket holes and 1-1/4" pocket screws, placing the pockets on the outside top and bottom where they'll be hidden. Keep it square.

Use a shelf-pin jig to drill the adjustable-shelf holes. Iron edge banding onto the exposed plywood edges of the shelves and sides. Then trim each adjustable shelf down (~1/4" overall here) so it clears the pins and banding — measure your own pins, they vary.

If you're running all adjustable shelves, add the 1/4" plywood back — without fixed shelves tying the sides, the tower will bow out in the middle. Attach with glue and 3/4" brad nails.

Build the face frame first with pocket holes, then attach the whole assembly to the front of the tower with glue and finish nails. It dresses the front and hides the plywood edges.

Trim out the base in baseboard matching the closet's existing trim, mitering the corners and attaching to the 2x2 base with a finish nailer and glue. Add the optional 3/4" x 3/4" corner moulding to the top header. Then fill, sand, and finish.
