Step-by-step build — 4 steps. Also available as a print sheet.
Cut the tops of the two end panels with a jigsaw to create rounded top edges. Attach each end panel to the bottom board with pocket-hole screws (or 2" countersunk screws) and glue.
Mark your 1/4" drill bit with a piece of tape 1/4" from the tip so you know how deep to drill. Drill a test hole and check that a dowel seats 1/4" deep before committing to the real holes — adjust the tape if it doesn't.
Mark each 18" 1x2 every 3" along one long edge, then drill 1/4" holes 1/4" deep at each mark. Glue a dowel into each hole and cap with the matching rail to build a railing. You need two of these — one per side.
Attach the two dowel railings to the end panels to form the crib's sides. Attach the decorative trim strips to the outer face of each end panel, positioned to match the reference photo.
Mark a point 3" up from the bottom, centered side to side, on each end panel and attach a finial there — these two finials double as the crib's feet. Attach the remaining two finials to the tops of the end posts.
