Entryway Cabinet with Hooks

Drill three 3/4" pocket holes on each end of every shelf board and attach to the sides with 1-1/4" pocket hole screws and glue. If this cabinet will sit on top of a bench, also drill pocket holes on the bottom of the sides for that connection.

Drill two pocket holes on each end of the 1x6 and 1x4 boards and attach to the sides. Nail the bottom shelf to the top edge of the middle board where the hooks will go, using 1-1/4" brad nails and glue. If the top two shelves will carry heavy loads, add a 1x3 backing strip under their back edges too — the same reinforcement the hook rail gets.

Build the face frame as its own flat assembly with 3/4" pocket holes, 1-1/4" pocket hole screws, and glue — easier to keep square on the bench than in place on the cabinet. Attach it to the front of the cabinet with brad nails and glue, nailing through into the shelves for a solid connection.

Build each door frame to fit its actual opening, not the plan's numbers verbatim — an inset door needs a consistent, even gap all the way around, and that only happens if you fit each door to what you actually built rather than what the plan says you should have built. Mortise the inset hinges once you're happy with the fit, and add a magnetic catch to each door.

Sand all surfaces, finish, then add knobs and the wall hooks last.
